The

Everything Under The Sun Contest

It's been a long, harsh winter! As spring finally stirs, it's hard to forget how important a role the cosmos plays in our well-being.

In this contest, we'd like to see shorts with an opening line containing a celestial body.

This includes the sun (ours or other stars), the moon (don't forget the campfire marshmallows), or the myriad objects our telescopes or imaginations take us at night.

The twist: how does your climax tie in with your chosen entity?

  • In a high speed chase, was it the blinding sun in a mirror that caused the villain to skid?
  • In a detective/noir, perhaps the light of the full moon was enough to identify the escaping culprit.
  • For a romance, perhaps the fated pair were caught under a tiny shelter during a storm.
  • And hey fantasy writers, bring out your worlds' awesome skies!
Take us on a journey to the sky and beyond. The three highest-reaching stories will win!
